Sunrise January 11, 2011

What a spectacular sunrise this morning. Photographed  1/125 at f/3.2 with a 50 mm lens. White balanced for Fluorescent light. And it doesn't come close to capturing the beauty of the actual scene. I also shot it with a Tungsten, Auto, Sunlight and Shade White balance but the Fluorescent captured the best detail in the red clouds.

White Balance Test

Nice sunrise this morning so I went out on my deck and did a little test. I created four versions of the the view (looking East) from my deck. For each view I changed the white balance. Here are the results.

Farmscape Project

Our arable agricultural land may be one of this countries last most valuable natural resources. I began photographing farms with the idea of contributing a percent of my photo sales to
farmland preservation.

Here are a few of the images I have taken. There are several different syles that I am developing. This group uses a painterly effect that I create using multiple filters. I will post some other photographic styles in the near future.

Picture of Pain

This is an MRI image.
That red circle is where my disk is bulging and pressing on the nerve.
It hurts. I don't like it.

Delmarva Bike Week 2009 Wall of Death

I spent time at the Delmarva Bike Week in 2009.  I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the American Motordrome Wall of Death performers. This is the original form of extreme motorcycle thrill show which has been around since 1900 and these performers are determined to preserve the art form. There are only a few of these motordromes remaining in existence here in the United States. These guys travel all over the country performing their physically grueling show as many as ten times per day. I decided to present the photos with a retro look to honor the heritage of these great shows.

Ron Diorio Photographer

I came across the work of Ron Diorio in a Camera Position post on composition by Jeff Curto.

Here is a photo by Ron Diorio.

I decided to try my hand at a similar style.
Not quite as edgy as Ron's work but I'm kind of liking the technique.
